A stabilised displacement–volumetric strain formulation for nearly incompressible and anisotropic materials

چکیده

The simulation of structural problems involving the deformations volumetric bodies is paramount importance in many areas engineering. Although use tetrahedral elements extremely appealing, discretisations are generally known as very stiff and hence often avoided typical workflows. development mixed displacement–pressure approaches has allowed to effectively overcome this problem leading a class locking-free which can compete with hexahedral while retaining obvious advantages mesh generation step. Despite such adoption technology within commercial codes not yet pervasive. This be attributed two different reasons: difficulty making standard constitutive libraries implied continuity pressure, makes application method questionable context multi-material problems. Current paper proposes strain instead pressure nodal value. Such choice leads definition modified strain-driven laws straightforward. At same time, across multimaterial interfaces understood sort kinematic constraint (stresses still remain discontinuous material interfaces). new element also opens door anisotropic laws, typically problematic elements.

A Discontinuous Galerkin Scheme for Elastic Waves in Nearly Incompressible Materials

Two discontinuous Galerkin schemes for linear elastic waves in two and three dimensions with Dirichlet and optional Neumann boundary conditions are formulated: a pure displacement formulation and a mixed formulation with the displacement and a pressure parameter as variables. The schemes are implemented for two dimensions using Concepts with piecewise linear orthogonal basis functions for the d...

Mortar Finite Elements for Coupling Compressible and Nearly Incompressible Materials in Elasticity

We consider the coupling of compressible and nearly incompressible materials within the framework of mortar methods. Taking into account the locking effect, we use a suitable discretization for the nearly incompressible material and work with a standard conforming discretization elsewhere. The coupling of different discretization schemes in different subdomains are handled by flexible mortar te...
